Re: The FA Cup FIFTH round draw West Brom - Away

I can't stand Valentine's Day.

But anyone that says their missus doesn't care is talking absolute shit.

They all do.

It's whether you can put up withthe grief that goes with missing something like that.

I like an easy life, so it's easier to sit out things like that.

Each to their own though... If you can get away with going football on your missus borthday then fair play.

Wah Wah Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Who love a punch up, but can't usually have one.

My experience of Rugby players is that they are big, pumped up pricks who can't take a dig.

Can't stand their banter.
Can't stand theier dress sense.
Can't stand their pissed up noise.
Can't stand their sport.

Comment reinforced by Council Scum and Northern Sold.

Cheers lads!

*Thumbs up*

Pretty much everyone I know over West Ham go to Rugby as well

It tends to be wimps that don't like Rugby, the sort that think F1 is a sport

I know loads of blokes into BOTH their Rugby and Soccer... sorry football... our good ol' Essex comprehensive was a Rugby school... and fucking good at it we was as well.... used to take great delight whopping the local grammar schools... brilliant game to play just wished I had kept on after leaving school but alas work and watching West ham took over... pop over Southend RFC every know and then and all seem a good bunch of grounded lads... get to a couple of England Internationals a year at Twickenham and normally the 7's in May... great crowd.... maybe a few more Barbour jackets and flat caps than a football crowd but have always had a right laugh (especially with oppo supporters)... some people it seems are just a bit too precious ?? Be plenty on this thread calling Rugby bent that will all a sudden be experts come the WC in teh Autumn... I'll pin this thread up then yeah??

"elitist, ignorant, snobbish cunts with an inferiority complex"

That could be also aimed at modern Tottenham and Arsenal fans.

Spot on Staffs.

All my in-laws are in to Rugby and not remotely interested in Football. Some of them have even played Rugby Union at an amateur level. They look at me and my enthusiasm for West Ham and for Football with a sense of bafflement and ignorance.

They can be quite snobbish about it and perceive Rugby as superior to Football and therefore, by extension, implicitly see themselves as being superior to me. My father in law even makes a point of calling Football "soccer" as if Football as a term shouldn't be allowed to use by Football fans because the term originated historically from "Rugby Football" - whereas soccer originates from the term Association Football and is therefore what we should be calling it. He may be factually correct but that he feels the need to point it out demonstrates his sense of superiority. And, more than anything else, it's fucking annoying.

But, aside from all this, the more fundamentally important point is that as a sport Rugby is so fucking unspeakably boring. I just don't see the appeal. It just can't generate the same levels of enthusiasm, excitement and loyalty that the beautiful game commands.

I know which side of the fence I'd rather be on.

Rugby: a game played and watched by elitist, ignorant, snobbish cunts with an inferiority complex (in my experience).

Re: Rugby..a game played by gentlemen
Mike Teague is an absolute legend in Gloucester, and a great bloke to boot from a time when the game was definitely different.

I was brought up on it at school, it's a working class sport in Gloucester and there are more junior clubs per head than anywhere else in the country.

those in the know will tell you that the real hard man at Gloucester at the time wasn't Teaguey, but his back row partner, John Gadd. If something needed sorting, it would be Gaddy that done the deed, and properly too...

Plenty of RU players could have made a decent effort at playing Pro football... I'd say nigh on zero pro footballers could ever have played pro Rugby... and that gents... is the truth
